Our Journey to Living Alcohol-Free

We’re Claire and Karl Elliott — certified Positive Psychology and Alcohol-Free Coaches, proud parents to five amazing children, and the founders of The Sober Parents.

Between us, we have over 16 years of sobriety experience, and we believe wholeheartedly: if we can do it, you can too.

But it wasn’t always this way.

We know what it feels like to struggle. To wonder if taking a break from alcohol is even possible — especially while balancing work, relationships, and parenting. We’ve walked that path ourselves. And we’re here to guide you with honesty, support, and real-world tools that work.

Our mission is simple:

To help parents discover that living alcohol-free isn’t about missing out — it’s about showing up fully for yourself, your family, and your future.

If you’re even considering pressing pause on drinking, you’ve already taken a powerful first step. When we made the same decision back in 2016 and 2017, it transformed our lives in ways we never imagined.

You’re not alone. And you’re not broken. You’re just ready for something more.

Take Your First Step

Meet Your Sober Coach – Karl

I quit drinking on June 1st, 2016 — and to be honest, I never thought I would. Like many, I thought my drinking was “normal,” even though I was a heavy daily drinker.

I managed early mornings as a lorry driver and regular pub sessions with friends — convincing myself everything was fine.

But deep down, I knew it wasn’t.

After becoming a co-parent in 2013, my drinking spiraled further. Watching a documentary called Drinking to Oblivionwas the wake-up call I needed.

At first, it was just a 90-day challenge. But step by step, community by community, mentor by mentor — those 90 days became 8+ incredible years.

In 2018, I met Claire through a sober community. Fast forward: we built a blended family, moved across the country, and started our own journey of helping other parents find freedom too.

Today, being alcohol-free isn’t something I’m ashamed of — it’s something I’m proud of.

And if you’re ready to experience what’s possible beyond the next drink, I’m here to walk that road with you.

Meet Your Sober Coach – Claire

Growing up, I was shy, sensitive, and desperate to fit in. When I discovered alcohol at 14, it felt like a magic key — until it wasn’t.

Throughout my teens and twenties, drinking became a way to cope with bullying, business pressures, motherhood, and overwhelming emotions. A glass of wine at night turned into several. Antidepressants dulled the edges further.

By my late thirties, despite business success, I felt like I was losing myself — and my ability to be the mother I wanted to be.

In 2017, I chose a different path.

I sold my business, gave up alcohol, and began rebuilding a life that felt authentic, joyful, and truly mine.

Today, I’m a proud mum of four and co-founder of The Sober Parents. And I want you to know:

It’s never too late to choose yourself. It’s never too late to find your strength.

If you’re a parent feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just “off,” you don’t have to stay there.

Freedom is closer than you think — and we’re here to help you find it.
